Piketberg is just an hour and half's drive on the N7 from Cape Town and is within easy reach of the Swartland towns of Malmesbury and Koringberg, and the Berg River towns of Aurora and Redelinghuys. Elandsbaai on the West coast is roughly an hour's drive away.
Piketberg was founded in 1836 when Sir Benjamin D'Urban donated the farm Grotefontein to the ruling church council which governed the growing town until 1901. Today, Piketberg is the main business centre for the surrounding farms which produce mainly wheat, grapes, canola, fruit and proteas.
There is a Farmers' Market held in Piket-Bo-Berg on the last Saturday of each month and other places of interest where one can taste and buy home-made jams and fresh or dried fruit. There are 4 x 4 trails, hiking or cycling trails and horse riding camps and trails.
Piketberg is the home of the Piketberg Show, a variety of Art Exhibitions and the Cycle Challenge.
The Piket-Bo-Berg farming area on the mountainside above the town is scenically beautiful all year round but especially so in Spring when a brightly -coloured profusion of wild flowers bursts into life.
