Winter is a Good Time to Sell a Home
Posted: 21st May 2011
“Don’t give the residential property market the cold shoulder in winter. It is, in fact, a good time to sell your home.” That’s the advice of Ronald Ennik, the Sandton-focused executive director of Leapfrog Property Group.

“Sellers tend to have a mindset that, because gardens are usually drab and colourless in winter, their homes will be uninviting to potential buyers, and they should therefore stay out of the market until spring or summer.

“In reality, the buyer-to-stock ratio is often higher in winter. This is because competition gardeners and garden enthusiasts almost always time the selling of their homes for spring or summertime. In order to avoid competing with the best gardens in town, therefore, canny sellers tend to put their homes on the market in winter,” Ennik concludes.
